Biography
Hunter Coblentz (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer. His music education began at The Royal Conservatory of Music where he studied cello with Susan Gagnon. Further performance training includes piano instruction with Roger Bergs and Flamenco guitar with Gary Santucci.
As a composer, Hunter began his studies with Jack Behrens through The Royal Conservatory of Music and more recently has received private instruction with Roger Bergs. In the summer of 2010 he studied in Siena, Italy with Raphael Fusco. His cello duet, Ex Animo, was recently performed by Rachel Mercer and Amahl Arulanandam at the University of Toronto New Music Festival. Hunter is a graduate of the University of Toronto.
In 2009 Hunter co-founded and conducted the string ensemble Blast Strings, specializing in the performance of exclusively contemporary music. He offers lessons in cello, guitar, piano and theory.
